About
Dr. Shafeeq Mattummal is the Chair of the Cardiology Department at Meitra Hospital’s Center of Excellence for Heart & Vascular Care. With over 17 years of experience, he is a renowned specialist cardiologist in the field of Interventional Cardiology having completed over 10,000 coronary angioplasties and has performed one of the largest number of independent TAVIs in the state.
He holds an MBBS from Calicut Medical College, an MD in Internal Medicine from Grant Medical College & JJ Hospitals in Mumbai, and a DM in Cardiology from King Edward VII Memorial (KEM) Hospital & Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai. Dr. Mattumal completed his Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Inselpsital, University of Bern, Switzerland, and received specialized TAVI training in Rouen, France under Professor Alain Cribier, a pioneer in the field who performed the world’s first TAVI in 2002.
