Joint Replacement Robotic Surgery
We, at Meitra Hospital, have always believed and acknowledged the role of cutting-edge technology and unparalleled clinical expertise that help us establish the best healthcare delivery system in India and uncompromised quality of service. Our scientifically augmented infrastructure, state-of-the-art facilities and patient-centric priority approach backed by highly trained doctors and surgeons enable us to provide world-class healthcare services and stay true to our unique concept of being India’s first Hospitel, where the care of a hospital merges with the hospitality of a hotel.
In a short span of three years, Meitra Hospital has successfully set up its six Centres of Excellence including Heart and Vascular Care, Neurosciences, Bone and Joint care, Gastro Sciences, Renal Health and Blood Diseases, Bone Marrow Transplant and Cancer Immunotherapy – that are by themselves the best in South India. Through each of these Centres of Excellence, we deliver our advanced clinical services as integrated practice units combining medical and surgical departments together. These Centres help us take care and treat patients with simple and complex health disorders, irrespective age and gender.
At Meitra Hospital’s Centre for Bone and Joint Care, our team of doctors, surgeons, nursing and paramedical staff, technicians collaborate to work hand in hand with the team at Centre for Neurosciences to use therapies and surgeries to ensure that every patient is successfully recovered and continue to live an improved quality of life. Bone and Joint Care needs specialised infrastructure and facilities to diagnose and treat patients not only for broken limbs but also to replace joints and conduct corrective surgeries.
Robot Assisted Joint Replacement Surgeries
Robot assisted surgeries for joint replacements have proved to be boon for patients in India, considering that the country has been facing a knee arthritis epidemic with close to 4 crore Indians needing Total Knee Replacement Surgeries. While experts cite genetic predisposition and poor lifestyle habits leading to overuse of knee joints as the primary causes, there is an increased demand and willingness amongst patients to opt for robotic surgeries that ensure complete recovery with reduced hospital stay, minimal blood loss and pain, little or no scar. It has been reported that traditional knee replacement surgeries have 30% of their patients returning for corrective surgeries within 10 years of replacement while, less than 3% of the population comes back for corrective surgery after robotic joint replacement procedures.
Keeping this in mind, Meitra Hospital’s Department of Robotic Joint Replacement Surgery has been set up to offer the following types of specialised robot-assisted orthopaedic surgeries
Robotic Orthopaedic Surgeries including Joint Replacement Surgeries like Total or Partial Knee Replacement Surgeries, Total or Partial Hip Replacement Surgeries must be carried out with precision to yield the best results. While our surgeons are experts in conducting such surgeries owing to skillsets and meticulous training, using robot assisted technologies for orthopaedic surgeries using their understanding to pre-plan them and conduct precise cutting for predictable and consistent results. Such surgeries promise accuracy in placing the implant, lesser chances of readmission, lesser pain and faster recovery.
At Meitra Hospital, we enable robot-assisted joint replacement surgeries with the cutting-edge second-generation CORI Surgical System that was introduced in South East Asia for the first time recently. This highly advanced handheld robotic surgical system assists the orthopaedic expert to position and align implant as per the anatomy of the patient and most accurately without metal rods, CT scans or pre-surgical MRIs.
Accuracy and precision are vital when it comes to knee replacement surgeries. Any misalignment can lead to pain and inability or restriction in movement. The CORI Surgical System provides a 3D digital model of the knee which helps the surgeon to find the right implant and prepare a detailed surgical plan on how it can be placed in a way that suits mobility and quicker post-surgery recovery. CORI Joint Replacement Robotic Surgical System aids in maintaining natural ligaments and bones in comparison to traditional replacement surgeries. This, in turn, enables faster recovery and easier mobility. CORI Surgical System is used for both total and partial hip replacement surgeries.
