Meitra Hospital


At Meitra, the founders believe that quality healthcare is the right of every human. 

The vision for Meitra was to create an outstanding tertiary healthcare facility and provide unparalleled clinical care and patient experience in the beautiful city of Kozhikode. Right from its inception, Meitra was envisioned to be a healthcare centre of international standards. Meitra’s patient-centric hospital design has resulted in a new kind of hospital concept – ‘The Hospitel’– essentially merging the care of a hospital and the luxury of a hotel, to create a unique patient experience.

There are 220 individual rooms and suites including 52 individual intensive care units. The hospital also has 7 futuristic operation theatres and is supported by cutting edge medical diagnostic equipment. 

Meitra delivers advanced patient-care through integrated practice units called Centres of Excellence (COE). Each centre combines medical and surgical departments associated with the management of one disease area or organ system under a single leadership team. 

Meitra has six specialized COEs: Heart and Vascular Care, Bone, Joint and Spine Care, Neuro Sciences, Gastro Sciences, Nephro Uro Sciences and Blood Diseases, Bone Marrow Transplant and Cancer Immunotherapy. These centres are supported by renowned doctors, state-of-the-art medical facilities, and technology-integrated clinical practices. Meitra’s care-path model was developed under the advice of physicians from one of the world’s best hospitals. The COEs ensure that patients receive unparalleled clinical care that clearly sets the hospital apart in the industry.

P.K. Ahammed


PK Ahammed, the renowned industrialist and philanthropist, has been creating an unparalleled legacy for about half a dozen decades. He is the Chairman of Peekay Group, which is the parent company of industrial companies such as Peekay Steel Casting (P) Ltd and Peekay Rolling Mills (P) Ltd and the founders of some of the socially responsible initiatives such as Peekay Educational and Charitable Trust and Peekay Arts & Science College, Calicut. PK Ahammed has been part of several educational and Healthcare initiatives in Kerala.

P.K. Ahammed joined his father’s business in 1960 and took control of the company in 1971 when his father expired. PK Ahammed & Co. was the first firm in Kerala to obtain NOC from the Govt of India and import rice from Nepal in 1974.  He diverted his trading activities to industry when he joined the board of Janatha Steel Mills (P) Ltd in 1972.

He established Ahammed Roller Flour Mills (P) Ltd. in 1982. This was the first Roller Flour Mills to be started in the small scale sector in Kerala.  It was followed by establishment of two more flour mills viz Peekay Roller Flour Mills, Calicut and Pondy Roller Flour Mills (P) Ltd, Mahe. He moved to the steel sector by taking over Janatha Steel Mills (P) Ltd in 1984. He then concentrated on steel by establishing Peekay Steel Castings (P) Ltd and Peekay Rolling Mills (P) Ltd. and the rest is history.

In consistency with its objectives and in conformity with the modern business concept, Peekay Group sets apart a part of the profit earned by the group towards Corporate Social Responsibility year after year.  The beneficiaries include leading educational institutes, hospitals, charitable trusts, and welfare associations.

The way forward.

As we reflect on the year 2020, it is filled with the kind of uncertainty and struggle that mankind has never witnessed before. But if you take a moment and look deeper, it also showcased the resilience of the human spirit, and its ability to collaborate and evolve in adversity. We witnessed the fight for hope – for a better tomorrow, for a happier tomorrow. As we introspected, like the rest of the world did, we were determined to come out of it stronger. We were determined to create a health system that draws inspiration from the lessons that we learnt as we paused. 

We humbly present to you our renewed spirit. Our new brand represents our aspirations, and our sincere effort to evolve continually. It represents our hopes, and the hopes of those who struggle to have access to quality healthcare. It represents the sacrifices of healthcare professionals, as they bring hope to their patients. It represents our wish for happiness in the world, no matter the uncertainties or struggles that we experience along the way. We are Meitra, still with the same values, but with a renewed sense of Health, Hope and Happiness.
